WE ARE HARVESTING IN MAS MIQUEL

Our vineyard named “Mas Miquel” cover 34 hectares. This estate was owned by the monks of the Cistercian Monastery of Santes Creus in Tarragona. Nowadays is propriety of the MASCARÓ family since 1940. There we have different varieties for making sparkling wine D.O. Cava and also still wines D.O. Penedès.

At that moment we are harvesting. The weather is nice, with sunny days and fresh nights. Two days ago we have just finish to harvest the Macabeo. This is a white variety that we use mainly in the coupage of our Cava Reserva MASCARÓ Brut “Nigrum”. All the harvest has been done picking by hand the grapes to preserve all their proprieties, avoiding undesirable macerations. The grapes are press entirely and we only use the free running juice for making our Cavas.

Today we are harvesting Grenache. This variety is going to be used for making our Cava Rosé MASCARÓ Brut “Rubor Aurorae”. The fruitiness and elegance of this Cava come of this Mediterranean variety. The probable alcohol degree is 10,5º and we are getting a very good level of acidity since the summer has been cool until July.

Harvest is a wonderful moment for us, it is a very busy time but it is also very satisfactory because we get the result of the whole work during the year.
